A fair amount of national publicity has been generated around our romantic dining program at the Newburyport Lighthouse, recently. We’ve had two film crews at the lighthouse over the past year, and a national magazine has featured us. The film crews came from Universal Studios and the Home and Garden Network (HGTV). Both are planning on airing their programs on television in 2017.
The Universal Studios crew shot a segment for their television series Fireball Run, a show similar to The Amazing Race, but with a history emphasis. That program should be airing in the Fall of 2017. The second film crew to shoot at the lighthouse was with the Home and Garden Network. They were working on a segment for their series Beachfront Bargain Hunt, which should be airing in the Spring of 2017.
The national magazine story appeared in the Winter 2016 issue of Homestead, and was the lead story, entitled To the Lighthouse, with a picture of a lighthouse on the front cover. It featured the Newburyport Lighthouse dining program, and the Borden Flats Lighthouse in Fall River, Massachusetts – now an offshore inn – as exciting examples of adaptive re-uses for lighthouses.
