Until now, there’s been an untold story about the way The Lighthouse Preservation Society has helped a large number of nonprofits through our unique Newburyport Lighthouse dining program. We began our one-of-a-kind dining program in 1999. Like many nonprofits, we struggled to get by in the early years. But as our unique dining program grew in popularity, we started receiving requests to help other nonprofits with their fundraising endeavors.
In addition to making outright charitable contributions to other lighthouse groups, the society was one of the lead contributors to the building of Newburyport’s youth skate park. Over the years, we have donated to scores of nonprofits of every description, by contributing lighthouse meals to their auctions, which has helped to raise tens of thousands of dollars, over the years, for a variety of worthy causes. This past year, alone, we donated over 30 romantic lighthouse dining packages, to various nonprofit causes, which had a retail value of over $13,000.
